In the year 2015, a remarkable partnership was forged that would forever alter the landscape of mining and community development. Zizwe Opencast Mining, a company with a vision for sustainable growth, embarked on a transformative journey when they secured a 10-month contract at Anglo Platinum’s Tumela Operations.
This contract came at a pivotal moment, coinciding with Anglo Platinum’s ambitious Supply Chain Transformation initiative. The essence of this initiative lay in its commitment to not only bolstering its local and B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) spending but also in fostering meaningful collaborations with the neighbouring traditional and local communities. In this quest for mutually beneficial engagement, Anglo Platinum sought to harness the capabilities of its suppliers in harmony with the aspirations of these local communities.
